Καὶ ἦν ἐκεῖ Μωυσῆς ἐναντίον Κυρίου τεσσαράκοντα ἡμέρας καὶ τεσσαράκοντα νύκτας· ἄρτον οὖκ ἔφαγεν καὶ ὕδωρ οὐκ ἔπιεν· καὶ ἔγραψεν ἐπὶ τῶν πλακῶν τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα τῆς διαθήκης, τοὺς δέκα λόγους.
And Moses was there before the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did not eat bread and he did not drink water; and he wrote on the tablets these words of the covenant, the ten sayings.
ויהי־שׁם עם־יהוה ארבעים יום וארבעים לילה לחם לא אכל ומים לא שׁתה ויכתב על־הלחת את דברי הברית עשׂרת הדברים׃
