Exodus 2:3

Ἐπεὶ δὲ οὐκ ἐδύναντο αὐτὸ ἔτι κρύπτειν, ἔλαβεν αὐτῷ ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ θῖβιν καὶ κατέχρισεν αὐτὴν ἀσφαλτοπίσσῃ καὶ ἐνέβαλεν τὸ παιδίον εἰς αὐτὴν καὶ ἔθηκεν αὐτὴν εἰς τὸ ἕλος παρὰ τὸν ποταμόν.

Then when they were no longer able to hide him, his mother took for him a basket and plastered it with asphalt and put the child into it and placed it in the marsh-meadow by the side of the river.

ולא־יכלה עוד הצפינו ותקח־לו תבת גמא ותחמרה בחמר ובזפת ותשׂם בה את־הילד ותשׂם בסוף על־שׂפת היאר׃

*   basket (plaited from papyrus) OR ark
*   plastered OR besmeared
*   asphalt (compound of asphalt and pitch) OR bitumen
