Exodus 14:10

Καὶ Φαραὼ προσῆγεν· καὶ ἀναβλέψαντες οἱ υἱοὶ Ἰσραὴλ τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς ὁρῶσιν, καὶ οἱ Αἰγύπτιοι ἐστρατοπέδευσαν ὀπίσω αὐτῶν, καὶ ἐφοβήθησαν σφόδρα· ἀνεβόησαν δὲ οἱ υἱοὶ Ἰσραὴλ πρὸς Κύριον.

And Pharao drew near; and the children of Israel looking up with the eyes they beheld, and the Egyptians encamped behind them, and they were very afraid; then the children of Israel cried to the LORD.

ופרעה הקריב וישׂאו בני־ישׂראל את־עיניהם והנה מצרים נסע אחריהם וייראו מאד ויצעקו בני־ישׂראל אל־יהוה׃

 

*   drew near OR approached
*   According to Benyamim Tsedaka, הקריב has two meanings ‘drew near’ and ‘worshiped.’ In this regard the Samaritans understood that Pharao worshiped Beel Sepphon to help him send the children of Israel back to Egypt (as Marqeh interpreted in the second section of his ‘Tibaat Marqeh’).
